At launch there will be more than 600 programmes previously broadcast on Channel 5 available to Freesat viewers who own the compatible Free Time hardware - including Neighbours and Home & Away for Aussie soap-heads.

Says Emma Scott, Freesat’s Managing Director: 'As the consumer appetite for video on-­demand grows, Freesat now offers viewer access to the four largest UK catch-­up TV players, which account for 80 per cent of long form on-demand viewing today.'

The Free Time platform was launched last Autumn, with hardware sporting increased processing power and HTML5 compatability providing new trickplay features such as a backwards EPG and the Showcase content recommendation system. Freesat Free Time products so far only include models from set-top-box wizard Humax, with its flagship being the Humax HDR-1010S PVR with 1TB HDD and integrated Wi-Fi.
