Pioneer teases new Blu-ray player launch

Is that a high-end 4K UHD spinner under that blue sheet?

Just appeared over on Pioneer's Japanese website is this teaser image hinting at... well, something. The smart guess is a heavyweight 4K Blu-ray player, judging by the 'BDLX' page name.

A quick Google tells us Gyouten is the Kanji character for 'dawn' ...as in a new dawn for Blu-ray, and the text below says: 'Four years from that shock. Finally.' It is, of course, four years since Pioneer's last high-end spinner, the BDP-LX88.

Now all we have to do is wait.
