Subversive subject matter. Lengthy takes. A detached approach to its characters. There’s not a single element of this film that doesn’t scream ‘debut movie’. Julia Leigh’s frustrating flick wants to have its cake and eat it, enticing viewers with lingering shots of Emily ‘Sucker Punch’ Browning’s naked body while making vague statements about being complicit in acts of voyeurism. The Blu-ray’s AVC 1.85:1 1080p imagery is sharp enough to thrill leering perverts, although - rather predictably, given the subject matter - the DTS-HD MA 5.1 mix is heavily biased towards the front speakers. Indeed, take out the slightly more enveloping sonics during the occasional bar scene and there's very little difference between the 5.1 presentation and the disc's optional LPCM 2.0 track. Extras are limited to the trailer and a 13min reel of interviews with wroter/director Julia Leigh, actress Emily Browning and director of photography Geoffrey Simpson.
