Wuaki.tv adds slate of British movies
Streaming service Wuaki.tv has announced a swathe of British movie titles are to join its on-demand catalogue, with represented directors including Danny Boyle, Guy Ritchie, Ken Loach, Mike Leigh, Noel Clark and Edgar Wright.
The new content will be divided into two categories: Classic and Modern. In the former are the likes of A Hard Day's Night, The Ipcress File, The Man Who Sued God and Lawrence of Arabia (pictured), with the Modern selection including Oscar-winner The King's Speech and West Country horror The Borderlands.
Wuaki.tv says the titles have been handpicked to showcase the best Blighty's film industry has to offer.
'While other streaming services tend to focus mainly on Hollywood blockbusters, Wuaki.tv is setting itself apart by bringing the best of British cinema to movie fans'.
'We're working on more deals of this kind,' reveails UK Content Diretcor Simon Homent. 'No other streaming service is focusing on the best of British cinema in this way, and we believe it will really help set Wuaki.tv apart.'
The on-demand streaming service, which originated in Spain in 2010, was launched in the UK last year. It provides film and TV content via a rental/purchase model (pricing begins at as low as £2.49 a movie, but an HD copy of Rambo, for instance, is £10.99 to buy) and claims the Xbox 360/One consoles, Google Chromecast and Smart TVs form Panasonic, Samsung and LG as hardware partners.
