It's taken six attempts and more than 15 years, but fans of Trey Stone and Matt Parker's controversial cartoon finally have a videogame spin-off to be proud of. Despite a year-long delay and rumours of a troubled production, Obsidian Entertainment's South Park: The Stick of Truth has emerged from production as a very entertaining role-playing game that – thanks to the authentic visual style, outrageous humour and voice acting – is as close as you could ever get to a fully interactive episode of the show.

Disney's 53rd animated movie sees the studio going 'full Broadway' with an all-singing, all-dancing take on Hans Christian Andersen's The Snow Queen. Following in the footsteps of Tangled (a little too closely at times), Frozen delivers plenty of thrills and laughs, while eschewing the traditional 'love-conquers-all' message in favour of an empowering tale of the joys of sisterhood.

Stan Winston’s 1988 creature-feature Pumpkinhead (aka Vengeance the Demon) remains a personal favourite of this reviewer - and inot just because it gave us a fantastically realized monster. I also admire it’s inventive new twist on the ‘teens in peril‘ story and the authentic sense of place the film creates.

It may have only lasted three seasons, but fans of Rob Thomas’ cult TV series about the student sleuth has lived on in the hearts of its fans. Indeed, their love for the show was so strong that when Thomas and star Kristen Bell took it upon themselves to seek funding for a follow-up movie via crowdfunding site Kickstarter, donations reached the $2million target in less than ten hours (the total raised was up to $5,702,153 by the time the campaign ended).

The temptation is to call 'time' already. If you want a superb 1080p LED connected TV, look no further. Buying conundrum solved – this Sony is all you need. Let’s hit the izakaya. Of course, to be that presumptuous would be madness. This new W8 doesn’t even lead Sony’s own 2014 TV fleet, for crying out loud...

Is this the game that PS4 owners have been crying out for? Possibly. This loose sequel to inFamous 2, developed by Sucker Punch Productions and exclusive to Sony's next-gen console, is a graphical tour de force that makes the most of the processing power on offer, painting a gorgeous, spookily-lit eye-opening open-world Seattle for gamers to gad about in.

Onkyo's TX-NR929 is not one of the brand's heavyweight offerings, but this well-priced receiver – it now sells for around £1,000, after initially launching at nearer £1,500 – packs enough performance and feature tricks to comfortably drive and tune most people's setups. The value for money offered is superb, and it's therefore easily recommended.

Humax's HDR-FOX T2 was hitherto one of the best Freeview+ HD recorders available and now it's produced this successor, the HDR-2000T.

While this TV drama about the formative years of a young Norman Bates naturally owes a great debt to Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, it's really far more of a spiritual sibling to David Lynch's legendary Twin Peaks. As for this two-disc Blu-ray set – the show's stylish cinematography holds up very well, with each hi-def platter hosting five richly-detailed 1.78:1 1080p encodes. Aiding these are classy DTS-HD MA 5.1 mixes that add plenty of atmosphere. Extras take the form of deleted scenes and a 50-minute Q&A with the main cast and crew.

Here’s a deliciously odd one – a subwoofer designed to be mounted on a wall. A 'lifestyle product', I would bet my life that REL's original designer Richard E Lord would never have designed this. However, it is with pleasure that I can suggest that, had he been asked to approve the performance of the Habitat 1, he would have done so.
