Occupying the lowest rung of Yamaha's elite 'Aventage' range, the RX-A820 is a versatile beast with DSPs galore (an area where Yamaha has a rich history), a claimed 7 x 130W of amplification at your disposal and no fewer than eight HDMI ports. With its £850 price tag it's aimed at those who want something more than just a basic AVR.

The BenQ W1070 wears its chief attraction right out there on its price tag. For despite being a 3D-capable projector claiming decent-looking contrast ratio and brightness figures of 10,000:1 and 2,000 ANSI Lumens respectively, it costs a penny under £700. Admittedly, this doesn’t get you a free pair of 3D glasses, but it’s still a damn tempting price all the same.

With a story that brings together Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, Sandman, the Tooth Fairy and Jack Frost to do battle with Pitch Black (aka pitch, aka The Boogeyman), Rise of the Guardians is essentially the Avengers Assemble of seasonal movies.

Not even the combined star power of Fred Astaire (coming back out of retirement after Gene Kelly broke his ankle) and Judy Garland can make Easter Parade anything more than a not-entirely-convincing attempt at repackaging a litany of old MGM musical numbers. Not that any of this has stopped Warner Bros. from delivering yet another gorgeous Technicolor restoration for the film's Blu-ray debut. The richly-coloured AVC 1.37:1 1080p encode and DTS-HD MA mono sonics both flatter the source material, and informative extras include a commentary and 1951 radio adaptation.

With Logitech recently announcing plans to offload its Harmony handset division, and most AV products now controllable via dedicated smartphone and tablet apps, you might think the last nail has been hammered into the universal remote coffin. One For All has other ideas, bringing its Simple 4 to market with a tempting £22 price tag.

This penultimate run of the award-winning sitcom about the making of a live TV sketch show continues to deliver more laugh-out-loud gags per episode than the vast majority of its peers.  Technically, the triple-disc DVD release is pretty comparable to its predecessors. In other words, the anamorphic 1.78:1 transfer is generally sharp and colourful (although some excess softness creeps into a handful of shots) and the DD 5.1 mix is fair, despite not making that much use of the surrounds. Extras include a few commentaries and several videos relating to the season's live episode.

Disney's latest CG animation is a textbook example of coming up with a great concept for a movie, but then struggling to turn it into a great story.

Philips knows a thing or two about lighting, with its Ambilight technology adding a USP to its TV range. With Hue, it’s giving you the opportunity to experiment with intelligent illumination without it coming attached to an LED TV.

Having wrapped up an eight-year term as Governor of California, it was no surprise to learn that Arnold Schwarzenegger was planning a return to the silver screen. But at 65-years of age, many wondered if the former superstar would still have what it takes to kick-ass with the best of them.
