Following on from last year's Alien: Covenant prequel novel, Twentieth Century Fox and Titan Books now bring us an official prequel to Shane Black's upcoming movie sequel The Predator (which hits UK cinemas on September 12). But whereas author Alan Dean Foster's Alien: Covenant - Origins completely ignored the franchise's titular beasties in favour of a less-than-riveting tale of an attempt to sabotage the Covenant mission prior to its launch, writer James A. Moore here delivers something much more likely to satisfy franchise fans.

Samsung has taken the wraps off its first foray into the world of 8K TVs. Promising a host of 8K-ready enhancements, including Real 8K Resolution, Q HDR 8K, Quantum Processor 8K and advanced 8K AI Upscaling tech (based around 'machine learning'), the new Q900R QLED TV will be available in four 'ultra-large' screen sizes (65in, 75in, 82in and 85in) when it hits the UK in mid-October.

A combination of gorgeous designs, a five-strong range targeting different buyers, and impressive picture quality improvements saw LG’s OLED models make huge inroads into the mid-range/premium TV market last year. With LCD/LED technology fighting back in emphatic fashion through direct-lit contenders from Sony and Samsung, however, the pressure is on LG to keep moving OLED forwards.

At the same time as a new generation of French filmmakers (La Nouvelle Vague) were transforming cinema in that country, an upstart British production company was setting out to do the same on these shores. The brainchild of director Tony Richardson, writer John Osborne and producer Harry Saltzman, Woodfall Films came about as a way of bringing Osborne's controversial, but hugely successful, stage play Look Back in Anger to the screen.
