Freeview launches live streaming/on-demand app
Free-to-air TV platform Freeview has today launched a mobile app for iOS devices enabling users to stream live shows and on-demand content, and search and set reminders via a 15-day EPG.
An Android version of the app, which is free to download, will arrive later in the year.
Live streaming (via either Wi-Fi or data connection) is supported by BBC, ITV and Channel 4. On-demand content is available from BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4, My5, and UKTV Play portals. There's no subscription required.
The Freeview app's UI aims to making finding content easy via an on-demand recommendations carousel broken down into genres, plus search function. A full EPG is also available, with 'Favourites' filtering.
Says Owen Jenkinson, Marketing Director, Freeview: 'Kaboom. Freeview now on mobile. Whether you want to watch Freeview in bed, in the park, or on your way to work – it’s all possible now.'
