The new lineup features two models – the SB-3000, which uses a sealed cabinet, and the PB-3000, which is a ported design.

The subwoofers are more affordable and more compact than SVS's existing 4000 Series, but still use front-firing 13in drivers and offer control and customisable parametric EQ via the brand's smart device Bluetooth app, a feature that previously debuted on its high-end 16-Ultra subwoofers.

Says SVS of its new woofers: 'The 13in 3000 Series’ drivers are entirely new designs combining proprietary features including a massive dual-ferrite magnet motor assembly, weighing over 11kg, edge-wound voice coils, lightweight and rigid aluminium venter cones, and a long-throw parabolic driver surround built for extreme excursion, SPLs and longevity.'

Powering both models is an onboard 800W amplifier, the Sledge STA-800D2, with 56-bit Analog Devices Audio DSP silicon to control the output.

Opting for the ported version over its sealed sibling will give home cinema owners further tweaking potential. The claimed frequency response of the PB-3000 is 16Hz-260Hz (+/-3dB) in a standard installation, but its twin front-firing 3.5in bass ports can be sealed with supplied bungs. The frequency response rating of the SB-3000 is 18Hz-270Hz.

The SVS SB-3000 price is £1,275 in a standard black ash finish, while a black gloss version will sell for £1,350. The PB-3000, only available in black ash is priced at £1,550.

Both the new SVS subwoofers will be distributed in the UK via Karma-AV.
