SVS announces new 2000 Pro Series of home cinema subwoofers
The brand says the aim of its new series is to 'raise the performance benchmark in its price class.' All models employ a proprietary 12in high-excursion woofer designed specifically for the 2000 Pro Series, driven by a 550W Sledge amplifier. The woofer, says SVS, is 'built to move very high air volumes, generating exceptional audio energy and control.'
The lineup becomes the new entry-point for SVS's app-based control/EQ system, which first debuted on the 16-Ultra series in 2017, and then filtered down to the 4000 Series and 3000 Series. Utilising a Bluetooth connection to the sub, and available for Apple, Android and Amazon devices, the app offers access to preset EQ modes, crossover control, room gain compensation and three-band parametric EQ.
The claimed frequency response of the sealed SB-2000 Pro is 19Hz-240Hz (+/-3dB). Both the ported PB-2000 Pro and ported cylinder PC-2000 Pro models reach deeper, to a claimed 16Hz.
The starting price will be a suggested £900 for the SB-2000 Pro in a black ash finish. The model will also sell for £1,000 in black gloss and 'special order' white gloss variants.
The PB-2000 Pro will only sell in black ash (£1,000), while its cylindrical stablemate will ship in black gloss (also £1,000.
