Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few weeks it won't have escaped your notice that Marvel's eagerly-awaited spacefaring sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is exploding into cinemas across the UK on April 28. And as you might expect, the film is being supported with a plethora of tie-in collectibles – including action figures, plushes, costumes, mugs, books and other miscellanous goodies – all designed to drain your wallet of any remaining cash after you've forked out for tickets to see the film at your local multiplex.

Somehow, Epson’s new EH-TW7300 only costs £2,200. That's despite it being one of only a handful of projectors capable of playing both 4K and high dynamic range sources. Surely such a ground-breaking deal has to be too good to be true?

Cambridge Audio could have gone back to the drawing board for its latest soundbase speaker, but has instead opted to take its previous TV5 model and refresh its audio chops and connective options while retaining the muted styling and driver technology. It's retained the naming system too, so be aware that this is known as the TV5 (v2), and the more affordable new TV2 is the TV2 (v2).

In the past, we've extolled the virtues of powerline networking, where data is basically superimposed on your mains wiring by a couple of boxes that plug into convenient wall sockets. One's near your broadband router, while the other is located where remote network coverage is required. Now Devolo is offering a cutting-edge alternative in the form of the Gigagate, a wireless bridge.

Denon’s AVR-X6300H comes to the home cinema receiver market with a spec sheet hotter than Megan Fox in a stolen hot tub – but the headline news is its 11 channels of onboard amplification for a largescale Dolby Atmos, DTS:X or (optionally) Auro-3D experience. That means no more fiddling about with external power amps for 7.1.4 sound.

It’s been a while since Oppo had a new disc-player – its previous hardware, the BDP-103D, launched in 2013. The arrival of the UDP-203 is therefore exciting for fans of the brand, not least because it supports Ultra HD Blu-ray...

With its imaginative story, genuinely creepy bad guys, dark humour and fun turns by a watchable cast, it's a shame this Tim Burton fantasy flick went mostly under the radar. Okay, so it feels a touch languid in its first half and too rushed in its second, and there's an over-reliance on CGI during the finale, but it's hard to imagine anyone coming away from Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children feeling in any way short-changed. If you've ignored Burton since the dismal Dark Shadows (and we certainly wouldn't blame you), maybe it's time to re-embrace him.
