One-eyed boy Kubo (Art Parkinson) lives in a cave atop a mountain in ancient Japan with his sick mother Sariatu (Charlize Theron). Kubo spends his days entertaining nearby villagers with tales of the samurai Hanzo, which he brings to life via origami that's magically animated by music played on his guitar-like shamisen.

This cracking screwball comedy stars Rosalind Russell as ace reporter 'Hildy' Johnson, who turns up at the offices of The Morning Post one morning to tell her managing editor and ex-husband Walter Burns (Cary Grant) that she is quitting to remarry and live a quite life in Albany. Martin Scorsese's GoodFellas is one of the director's premium creations – a frenetic, slickly-edited immersion into the life of small-time mobster Henry Hill (Ray Liotta), spanning his childhood in the 1950s up to his disappearance into the FBI's Witness Protection Programme in the 1980s. Along the way, he teams up with Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci's gangsters, marries Karen (Lorraine Bracco) and learns how to smuggle pastrami into prison.

As we made clear in our review of the initial Blu-ray release, we have a lot of time for J.J. Abrams' long-awaited Star Wars sequel. At a time when some TV manufacturers are dropping 3D functionality from their newfangled 4K flatscreens, it's a pleasure to find that some Hollywood studios are still supporting the format. Case in point: Universal Pictures' Blu-ray outing for this 1953 science-fiction classic.

In the mid-'70s Hollywood sequels were far less prevalent than they are today. But with Steven Spielberg's Jaws breaking box office records and endless knock-offs (Grizzly, Orca, Piranha, et al) crawling out of the woodwork, it's understandable that Universal Studios would want its own shot at cashing-in on the success of its aquatic smash hit.
