The home entertainment market is experiencing its biggest shift in a decade, according to analyst GfK. Speaking at an annual conference of UK hi-fi trade body The Clarity Alliance, it said the move from conventional AV separates to soundbars and multiroom is reshaping consumer electronics.

Fans of horror, or genre movies in general, will have heard of FrightFest, the international film festival which plants its flag in Leicester Square each August, runs a two-day terrorthon at the Glasgow Film Festival in February, and organises one-off screenings, panel discussions and more throughout the calendar. Since its debut in 2000, it's hosted premieres from directors including George A. Romero and Neil Marshall, and been described by Guillermo del Toro as 'the Woodstock of Gore'.

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has revealed that The X-Files: The Event Series is coming to Blu-ray and DVD in the UK on June 13. Screened earlier this year on Channel 5, the six-episode miniseries saw FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) pick up where they left off almost 14 years ago, continuing their investigation into all things weird and wonderful.

The Criterion Collection has spilled the beans on what collectors can expect from its second wave of UK Blu-rays. Following on from its intial UK slate of six hi-def platters, the label is giving counterculture blockbuster Easy Rider (1969), classic film noir In a Lonely Place (1950) and Michelangelo Antonioni's masterpiece L'avventura (1960) the deluxe treatment in May.
