Thanks to the licensing deals controlling their motion picture outings comic book fans are unlikely to see Marvel superheroes Spider-Man, Wolverine and Iron Man joining forces at the multiplex for quite some time. Thankfully, the same restrictions don't exist when it comes to this latest LEGO game, giving you the chance to play as any of the publisher's best-loved heroes and villains (and plenty of the more obscure ones as well).

If traditional home cinema is to flourish, it needs AV receivers like the Marantz NR1604. It’s no secret that real-world consumers have fallen out of love with the surround sound behemoths of yesteryear – incredible hulks just don’t cut it anymore (unless they’re green gamma-soaked scientists). Home audio has downsized dramatically, and AVRs have been slow to follow suit. Just as well then, that this third iteration of Marantz’ slim-line NR models is, simply put, the best yet. When it comes to form, functionality and outright fun the NR1604 pretty much nails it.  It goes without saying that by its nature this style of receiver isn’t so much about reckless performance, as usability (an often ignored phrase in the hedonistic world of home theatre). The dinosaur, it seems, is evolving.

Last year we reviewed the Roku LT, a cute streamer with Wi-Fi hookup, slick interface and neat handset. It offers loads of on-demand content, arranged into a grid of channels that can be added to or removed from as you choose. Among them are BBC iPlayer, Sky's NowTV, Demand 5 and Netflix.

When his brother is killed by a gang of outlaws, mild-mannered lawyer John Reid (Arnie Hammer) is rescued by a Native American called Tonto (Johnny Depp) and is reborn as a masked avenger. So far, so ordinary – but as you might expect from the producer, director and star of the Pirates of the Caribbean films, this isn't the same Lone Ranger that your parents grew up with.

In the all-in-one system numbers game, LG outdoes its enemies by offering a package that claims a channel count of 9.1 (but from a regular 5.1 set of enclosures), using upward-facing top drivers in its tower speakers and proprietary processing to expand the soundstage vertically. Samsung does something similar with its HT-F9750W system, but only up to 7.1.

Neill Blomkamp hit it big in 2009 with his debut feature, the apartheid parable District 9. Now he's back with yet another dystopian sci-fi satire, but will an extra dose of Hollywood star power allow Elysium to trump its well-respected predecessor?

Considering what a success the Xbox 360 has become since its 2005 launch, with its groundbreaking network play and ever-growing media portal/hub functionality, the Xbox One’s journey to shop shelves was surprisingly uncomfortable.

When a siege crisis involving a former host-turned-crazed-gunman (Colm Meaney) hits North Norfolk Digital's radio HQ, the hostages' only hope lies in the hands of the peevish and self-obsessed DJ Alan Partridge (Steve Coogan).

Another year, another Call of Duty. The difference this year is that not only does …Ghosts mark the debut of a new sub-brand for the world's biggest first-person shooter franchise, but it's also our first taste of how the series has adapted to next-gen consoles.

If we had any complaint about the second season of HBO's epic fantasy series, it was that the myriad plots and new characters never really seemed to coalesce, giving it a slightly aimless feeling at times.
