One of the tell-tale signs you're a 'home cinema hero' – according to my colleague Steve May – is that you 'still have a LaserDisc player, somewhere...' And, indeed, to AV geeks of a certain vintage, the mere word conjures up cherished memories of that unmistakable whooshing sound as the big and beautiful medium – think CD, enlarged to LP size – was brought up to speed within the sizeable slab of a player.

The European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) is the technology world’s largest independent awards panel, incorporating 53 specialist magazines from across the continent 
– including Home Cinema Choice. Its goal is simple: to celebrate the most desirable, highest-performing home entertainment hardware that you – the AV enthusiasts – will be spending your hard-earned pennies on. 

Universal has cashed in on the recent cinematic release of its big-budget Mummy reboot by rolling out its previous Brendan Fraser Mummy trilogy (1999's The Mummy, 2001's The Mummy Returns and 2008's The Mummy: Curse of the Dragon Emperor) on 4K Blu-ray. Which reminds us that while the first film was a genuine hoot, the second was rather a mess, while the third was as much fun as snogging a desiccated corpse.

When a probe carrying samples from Mars docks with the International Space Station, the small crew discover that they've got more than they bargained for. Amongst the soil they discover a dormant alien microbe that, once free from its confinement, starts growing at a rapid rate and hunting them down.
